91³Ô¹ÏÍø

Alumni often form special groups around a shared identity, interest, or career focus. The Office of Alumni & Family Engagement provides active affinity groups with organizational support to encourage alumni connections with the 91³Ô¹ÏÍø and each other, and to strengthen our global alumni network. Below are active affinity groups that the Office of Alumni & Family Engagement currently supports.

Affinity Group Structure

Black Alumni of Wooster

The Black Alumni of Wooster are represented through the Black Alumni Council (BAC). BAC is an alumni organization with the stated purpose to:

  • Improve the experience of Black students at 91³Ô¹ÏÍø,
  • Enhance opportunities available to Black students at 91³Ô¹ÏÍø before, during, and after graduation, and
  • Create a vehicle for ongoing communication and interaction among Black alumni

International Alumni of Wooster

The International Alumni of Wooster is a group dedicated to maintaining and strengthening connections between current students and alumni from the 91³Ô¹Ï꿉۪s global community. The International Alumni of Wooster enables international alumni to connect with one another, current international students, and the 91³Ô¹ÏÍø to plan virtual and in-person events, learn about volunteer opportunities, and maintain a connection with the campus.

Latinx Alumni Association

The Latinx community of Wooster has recently established an affinity group with 91³Ô¹ÏÍø to create a space for Latinx students and alumni to connect and create a continuity of community beyond graduation.

Legal Alumni of Wooster

The Legal Alumni of Wooster (LAW) develops relationships and fosters connections between 91³Ô¹ÏÍø, current students, and legal alumni and friends of the 91³Ô¹ÏÍø. LAW supports the 91³Ô¹ÏÍø’s pre-law pathway, curriculums, and programs, promotes the advancement of Wooster’s aspiring lawyers, and provides information and mentoring to Wooster students with the goal of helping Wooster graduates become competent and ethical lawyers. LAW also assists and empowers Wooster graduates working in legal fields by connecting them with other Wooster graduates and friends of the 91³Ô¹ÏÍø. LAW’s primary goals are to:

  • Identify and motivate alumni to recruit prospective students and give support to 91³Ô¹ÏÍø,
  • Support and assist Wooster’s pre-law students, including the Moot Court Team, and
  • Recognize outstanding achievements by Wooster’s pre-law students, faculty, and legal alumni

Wooster Pride Network

Wooster Pride Network seeks to connect and foster relationships among LGBTQIA+ alumni, as well as LGBTQIA+ current students, faculty, and staff, through networking and mentorship, activism and outreach, and sharing stories of past and present experiences.

Military Alumni of Wooster

The Military Alumni of Wooster is an affinity group founded by recent graduates aimed at connecting alumni who have served or are serving in the armed forces of the United States, supporting 91³Ô¹ÏÍø programming, and honoring the 91³Ô¹ÏÍø’s long connection to our country’s military.

The W Association

The W Association was founded in 1909 and is made up of alumni who received letters as participants in Wooster’s intercollegiate athletic program, and women who participated in intercollegiate sports before varsity women’s sports were established.The purpose of the W Association is to support intercollegiate athletics at Wooster and honor alumni athletes who are outstanding in their accomplishments and others who have been outstanding supporters of the athletics programs at the 91³Ô¹ÏÍø. Membership in the organization will be extended to any person who is interested in supporting the intercollegiate athletic program at 91³Ô¹ÏÍø.

If you are interested in starting a new affinity group, please take a look at these steps to get started (.pdf). If you would like to propose an affinity group, please submit the form below. We will share this aspiring group in an upcoming alumni newsletter to see if other alumni are interested in joining. We will make this an active affinity group with support from the Office of Alumni & Family Engagement if we get 50 alumni to join.
