Jennifer Hayward is Virginia Myers Professor of English and Global Media & Digital Studies; professor of literature (2022-24) and current associate faculty of the Centro de Estudios Americanos at the Adolfo Ibáñez University, Chile. She received her Ph.D. in English literature from Princeton University and has published extensively on the digital humanities, the British in Latin America, the nineteenth-century periodical press, and serialized fiction. Her books include Consuming Pleasures: Active Audiences and Serial Fictions from Dickens to Soap Opera (1997), and new editions of two works by travel writer Maria Graham: Journal of a Residence in Chile (2003) and Journal of a Voyage to Brazil(2011). She co-directs the Anglophone Chile Project with Michelle Prain Brice, digitizing the English-language newspapers published in 19th century Chile. The project received a Major Project Grant from the Endangered Archives Programme of the British Library (2023-25). Access the .
