Does this construction say something about what kinds of freedoms are valued more in the U.S., and the kinds of people to whom we grant (or deny) such freedoms?

I hope the pandemic has made people more critical but you’re right, it could have just made people more stuck to their particular media platforms and sources. I am so thankful for having an FYS instructor like yourself, you personally helped me so much with the transition to college and I cannot be more appreciative of that.
