Jazz Vocalist Paul Marinaro to Perform With WSO and Jazz Ensemble

Paul Marinaro

WOOSTER, Ohio The Wooster Symphony Orchestra and Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Jeffrey Lindberg, will present Not Mostly Mozart, Mostly Sinatra! featuring jazz vocalist Paul Marinaro on Saturday, Sept. 22, at 7:30 p.m. in McGaw Chapel (340 E. University St.) during Black & Gold Weekend.

Some of Frank Sinatras greatest hits will be performed, including Come Fly With Me, Ive Got You Under My Skin, I Have Dreamed, Ive Got the World on a String, and Summer Wind.

Marinaro, a Chicago-based jazz vocalist, is dubbed as having “one of the most beautiful vocal instruments in the business today” by Howard Reich of the Chicago Tribune. His sold-out engagements in Chicagos world-famous venues have been named the “Best Performances of the Year” in the Chicago Tribune each year from 2013 to 2017. He has released two albums, Without a Song, a carefully crafted concept album stemming from and inspired by his fathers unfulfilled dream to be a professional singer, and One Night in Chicago, which was recorded live in June of 2015.

Lindberg, professor of music at Wooster, is also the director of the highly acclaimed Chicago Jazz Orchestra, Chicago’s oldest professional jazz orchestra in continuous operation, where Marinaro is a featured vocalist.

Tickets are $10 and are available at Buehlers (Milltown and Towne Market), the Wilson Bookstore on campus, and at the door of the concert. All students are admitted free of charge, and C.O.W. faculty and staff may obtain complimentary tickets at the Wilson Bookstore.
